What a Year!
Growing, Bigger & Better
This year we went through the process of accrediting with a new organization, called Council on Accreditation or COA. When we have the final report, we will be the only Dual-Accredited centers in the state of New Mexico, which we think is pretty awesome! If you’d like to learn more about COA, please visit: coanet.org.
Q: Why does this matter?
A: Going through an accreditation process is always a big deal. But when we go through the process we find ways we can improve our systems, and the way we do business. Which in turn creates a better environment for both the children and families we care for. We always strive to do better, and going through this process helps us identify issues, and make positive changes for the future!
A little bit about COA, “The Council on Accreditation (COA) is an international, independent, nonprofit, human service accrediting organization. Founded in 1977 by the Child Welfare League of America and Family Service America (now the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities), our mission is to partner with human service organizations worldwide to improve service delivery outcomes by developing, applying, and promoting accreditation standards. We envision excellence in the delivery of human services globally, resulting in the well-being of individuals, families, and communities.”
Family Connections- In 2016 we started our first Family Connections team meetings! It was great to see so many families interested in being more active in their child's school and classrooms. You are always welcome to join us at one of our meetings, we'd love to have you! Our next meeting will be in March, date is TBA.
AMAZING FAMILY EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES
Conscious Discipline- We will have ongoing training with the curriculum we use to help our children learn ton self-regulate and deal with emotions. When we work as a team from home to school, we help children learn that we all work together to give them the best care possible.
Toilet Learning was a hot topic in 2015! We will continue to offer more family training and info on the subject into the new year! If you have any other topics of interest that you'd like to learn more about, feel free to fill in the form below, and in the future we can cover those topics!
Surveys
This year was our first using a new form of satisfaction surveys through email. We got some great feedback, both good and not so good, but we appreciate it ALL! Your opinions matter to us, so we use the feedback from these surveys to make future decisions to better serve your family! The following are some comments we received:
"I went through several childcare centers before finding swcc, and I absolutely love this center. The staff are excellent with the children, always take each of their individual needs into account, and also strive to make the learning environment fun and safe. I would recommend no other center. "
"We absolutely love sending our child here. We feel like we enter as family and are treated as such. I can't recommend this place enough to anyone else we know with children. Our son feels the love and is learning leaps and bounds daily. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!"
"My husband and I toured several centers and really loved the welcoming atmosphere here. It's a big part of why we chose this center. Our child smiles at the teachers and is excited to go most days, which is reassuring."
We will be doing surveys 2 times a year, so please make sure we have your email on file. Participation is encouraged as we use all information we get from you, to guide us in the future.
CELEBRATE WITH US!
We had many, many reasons to celebrate in 2015.
We had a few of our teachers graduate from college! (not all were willing to share photos! (stinkers)). In a world so busy, it's hard to dedicate your time to new things, but these ladies managed to do it with full time jobs, and families at home, and we are beyond proud to have them on our team! CONGRATS!
We also had some very successful community events! Thank you to all those who were able to participate in any of our events, we greatly appreciate it. And we love that we have families who support us in our community efforts!
In our hearts, and on our minds
We also had some rough times this year. We lost someone near and dear to our hearts, Ms. Emma Lutrell. She was our swim instructor for over 25 years, and made an impact on many students we have had over the course of 29+ years including several of our teachers. She is greatly missed but always remembered in our hearts!
We also had one of our teachers have major brain surgery, and is still in progress of making a full recovery! We miss you Ms. Nohemi! See you soon! ;)
